National Gardens Scheme - Belvedere Centre Garden

Summer seems a long way off but we're looking forward to Sunday 28th July 2013, when the garden at Norwich's Belvedere Centre is opening along with Grapes Hill Community Garden for the National Gardens Scheme as 'Two Norwich Community Gardens'.

As part of this event we will be holding a small art and craft fair in the Large Hall at the Belvedere Centre, along with displays about the two community gardens.

The number of stalls will be limited and we will be displaying work that represents the theme of gardens and gardening, including artwork or photos featuring plants, gardens and wildlife, ceramics, wooden sculptures and textiles.

Most places are now taken but if you think your work fits in with these themes and would like to be considered for a stall then please e-mail your details with a description of your work.

Stall fees will go to this year's NGS charities.

Not Long Now To Our Christmas Fair!

We've had our last planning meeting for our Christmas Fair and it is under two weeks away.

We have a good range of stalls and the event will be the ideal opportunity to buy unique handcrafted Christmas presents ranging from jewellery and beadwork to bags, knitwear and crochet work as well as stained glass, pyrography, photographs, original artwork and greetings cards. There will be demonstrations on linocutting techniques and pastel painting along with activities for children.

Live music will be performed during the day and there will be plenty of food and drink: teas and coffees will be served, along with homemade cakes, hot soup and mulled wine. Profits from these will go to the Community Centre.

We're hoping the weather will be fine so that we can open up the garden to visitors and let children decorate the pergolas and trees with homemade decorations.

Christmas Craft Fair - Full Up!

All spaces have now been filled at our Belvedere Centre Christmas Art and Craft Show on Saturday 24th November 2012 (10am - 4pm).

Thanks to everyone who has applied.

Any outstanding payments should be made by mid October 2012.

Christmas Craft Fair

We are now taking bookings for stalls at the N Art 2 Belvedere Centre Christmas Art and Craft Show on Saturday 24th November 2012 (10am - 4pm). 

 

The event will be held at the Belvedere Centre, Belvoir Street, Norwich, NR2 3AZ. 

 

Art and craft demonstrations proved very popular at our Easter event and we would encourage stallholders to demonstrate their art or craft where possible.

 

If you would like a stall you can reserve your place by paying the stall fee, £10.

 

Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and fees will only be refundable if the event is cancelled.

If you'd like to be involved in organising the event, or to meet other N Art 2 members, we will be holding planning meetings for the event at the Belvedere Centre on Tuesday 9th October and Wednesday 7th November (7.30 - 9pm). 

 

We plan to have live music and teas and cakes at the event, as well as activities for children. Other ideas are very welcome.

Two Selling Opportunities

At last night's N ART 2 meeting at The Belvedere Centre we discussed two upcoming events: The Belvedere Centre Garden Open Day on Sunday 2nd September 2012 (12 - 4pm) and the N ART 2 Christmas Fair on Saturday 24th November 2012.

The Christmas Fair will have a similar format to the Easter Art & Craft Show we held earlier in the year, though we will make more use of the Lounge at The Belvedere Centre, to provide a link between the two halls, and demonstrations will take place in both halls.

For the Garden Open Day we will have a single N ART 2 stall to publicise the group, consisting of a few tables, selling a range of art and craft work. Volunteers on the stall will be able to sell their work and that of other group members.

Pricing Work

Several new members came along to last night's meeting and brought work to show.

Then we had a lively discussion on the vagaries of pricing work which also touched on the importance of presenting work.

Thanks to all who came along and made it such an interesting evening.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday 4th July at The Belvedere Centre (7.30pm - 9.30pm), in the Lounge.

Please feel free to bring along a piece of work to show. The discussion topic is to be confirmed.

N Art 2 "Show And Tell"

Last night eleven N Art 2 artists met at The Belvedere Centre for a "Show And Tell" to share their work with each other. There was a diverse mix of work, from photography, original prints and drawings to textile crafts and recycled sculpture.

We also discussed topics for future meetings. These will include advice on pricing work, practical help in presenting work (mounting and framing) and an open discussion on "Commissions - stifling creativity?"

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 30th May, 7.30pm - 9.30pm, at The Belvedere Centre. All artists and crafters welcome. Admission is free but a donation towards room hire would be appreciated.
